My Mother: My mother stayed at home to care for me and my two brothers until we were all in school. She sacrificed her career in order for my family to have a stay at home mom. My mother has always supported me and has encouraged me to be an independent, self-sufficient woman.
My Father: My father has been a constant source of stability and calm in my life. My father has always provided for my family financially and has been a stellar example of a selfless educator.
My Grandmother: My grandmother was always my number one fan and cheerleader. She was constantly reminding me how special I was to her and how her and I had a unique connection. I still feel connected her even though she has been gone for five years now. She helps guide my decisions and I see signs of her influence in my life all the time.
My Brothers: My brothers and I share a special relationship because we have experienced our life and childhood together. My brothers have recently told me how proud they are of me and we have begun to share an adult friendship as well as our sibling connections.
My grandmother is very special to me as well. Even though I was not her only grandchild she always knew how to make me feel like I was the most special girl in the world.

ReplyDeleteHi Amanda my grandmotber and I had a very special relationship as well. Although I loved my mother dearly the relationship we shared was completely different from my grandmother. Its great that you and your brothers are close.
ReplyDeleteI also was one of the fortunate ones to have a stay at home mother during my childhood. The bond you share with your siblings is wonderful. So many people today lose touch with their family as they grow older. And so many grandparents are raising their grandchildren today. I believe this affects the children because they miss the joy of getting to do things that grandparents do with grandchildren.

ReplyDeleteI love your childhood web. It is inspiration that's heart felt. My mother was not a stay at home mom but she did give up her public school teacher job to become a Head Start teacher to be closer at home.
Amanda I really liked your childhood web, and I think it is wonderful that your mother gave up her career to nurture and support her family. I also like how you have placed your pictures together, to me it represented the closeness that your family have.
